HARPER LEON VAUGHAN Guitar player, bass player, singer, songwriter, performing artist, Hoppie Vaughan, adding to the local Roanoke, VA music scene. His musical style could be described as rhythm & blue-eyed soul. If you’re looking for X-generation thrash alternative, this is not it. Hoppie is a native South Carolinian and in the mid 70's began playing with brother Kem in a 10 piece horn band called The Horse Heads, a USC Aiken, SC pep band. From there he moved on to the club circuit playing joints all over the South East in a regionally popular SC/GA band named HOLLOWPOINT. HOLLOWPOINT recorded several cuts in a studio owned by the God Father James Brown and Muscle Shaols, Al. In 1979 Hoppie moved to Huntsville, Al. and for two years played in a Rock 'n Roll band popular in the area called RAGE. RAGE recorded several cuts at many famed Muscle Shoals, Alabama studios and performed many showcases for major record labels. Hoppie moved back to the Augusta, GA area and worked with WICHITA, a regional Country Rock Band. From this point in 19

In Nashville Hop learned how to write songs and developed his skills as a performing artist. Hoppie was a staff writer for Milsap Music Inc. for 3 years. He performed countless sessions as a bass player and demo singer for local Nashville songwriters, publishers and producers up and down Music Row. Hop recorded jingles for Michelob, Hasbro and others. Hoppie has appeared on nationally Syndicated Star Search and appeared in several videos. Notably, Lorrie Morgan’s “Train Wreck of Emotion”, and Mac Gayden’s “Crazy Mama”. He has performed or appeared with such artists as: ROD PRICE of famed FOGHAT, Tommy Two Tone, Lynerd Skynerd, Jimmy Hall/Wet Willie, Billy Falcon, Steve Lukather / TOTO, Ronnie Milsap, Bob Welch, John Mayall, Sonia Data, Goose Creek Symphony, Gatemouth Brown, Miranda Louise, Gib Droll and The Kentucky Headhunters, to name a few. His band, “The Weebils”, released an album in 1989 and in 1992 his band, “Blackbone”, released the album “Politics of the Heart” for Working Boy Records.
